Mrs. Barbara Martin-Golden

Our school community lost a true treasure with the sudden death of Mrs. Barbara Martin-Golden on February 20, 2023. Mrs. Golden taught generations of children in the 6th grade at St. James for the past 46 years.

Many had the pleasure of learning religion, grammar, writing and literature from Mrs. Golden. Her wisdom, knowledge, counsel, integrity prompted many students to ask her to be a Confirmation sponsor each year. We all share the feeling of sadness at her passing. She will be dearly missed.

In grades 6, 7 & 8 we spent time remembering Mrs. Golden and the love that she shared with us. William Martin, Mrs. Golden's son, attended Mass, and he spoke with the students afterward. He acknowledged our loss and our need to cry, and he then challenged us to live life as strong and faithful people. Be kind, work hard, and love others.

The funeral for Barbara Martin-Golden will be held at Saint James Church.

Visitation on Sunday afternoon February 26, 2023, from 2 - 4 p.m.

Funeral Mass on Monday, February 27, 2023, at 11 a.m. Interment will take place and then a reception will follow in the Parish Center.

The funeral will be livestreamed, if possible. Father Joseph Smith will be the main celebrant.

School will be closed on Monday, February 27, 2023, to honor the memory of Mrs. Golden and to allow for the faculty and staff to attend the funeral.
