  • For unofficial teams we do help organize soccer, basketball, t-ball and softball so that kids of all ages can play on a “St. James” team.  Soccer is through Savannah United and we have our own basketball league for grades pre-k through 4.

Do you have after school care?

Yes, until 6pm and this available on half days as well.  Supervised snack, outside play, homework time, and inside play take place and it is held in our cafeteria.  Registration is available in the office.

What are your school hours?

Pre-K and Kindergarten: 8:00am – 3:00pm.  Parents can drop off as early as 7:30am.  After school care is available until 6:00pm.

How do you place children in the classroom and how many children are in each class?

We do not use a track system.  We strive to have an even mix of girls and boys.  The average grade has between 20 and 25 students in each class.  There are two classes for each grade level.

What is a host family for new families?

This is a family that usually has children in the same grades as your children that will be in touch with you before school begins and can be used as an informational resource thoughout the school year.

Where do you buy the school uniform? (Kindergarten through grade 8)

Uniforms are purchased at Bahama Joe’s on Waters Avenue or at Land’s End online.  We also have a used uniform closet.

What specials are available?

All grade levels participate in Spanish, music, computer, library, art and P.E.  Pre-K does not participate in Spanish.

Is financial aid available at St. James Catholic School?

Yes, we do have a limited amount of financial aid.  A family must be registered (including registration fee) before applying for financial aid.  The deadline to apply usually is mid-March.  A family will usually receive notification of the evaluation in late May or early June.  G.R.A.C.E. Scholar money is available to students transferring to a Catholic school from a public school and new Pre-K and kindergarten students.  Information is available in the office.

What is the Parent Portal?

The Parent Portal is an online school service that parents connect with via our website that will allow parents to view their child’s grades and averages, communicate with teachers, and access information regarding assignments and school information.

What are volunteer hours?

Parents are required to work 15 volunteer hours each year.  There are a variety of volunteer opportunities both at the school and at home.  You may opt out of volunteer hours by paying $150, if you wish.
